Tribes India presents Palm Leaf Engraving, known as Pattachitra, which is an ancient craft that still thrives in the state of Odisha in India. These etchings are treasured as decorations and hold deep messages and tales of devotion. Shri Radha and Krishna, Maa Durga, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati are the most commonly used themes. Leaves are stitched together and undergo an entire process to season them. The etching is done with an iron pen and then a natural paste is rubbed onto the leaves to highlight the figures. If colors are used they are typically made of vegetables and minerals. Let’s keep these diverse art forms alive across India, by supporting local artisans.

This palm Leaf is beautifully engraved by the Tribal Artist showcasing the most historic Warli Painting which are rudimentary wall paintings that use a very basic graphic vocabulary: a circle, a triangle and a square. It is representing the social life. Tribal people and animals, along with scenes from daily life are created in a loose rhythmic pattern. The coloring is done very gracefully which are naturally made from vegetables.
